Buy 5.75 (9/12)
Sell 7.30 (9/25)
Gain $296, 25.58%

It's still a long way to get used to US stock market. Always see chances pass by but don't catch it. Cheers!!

這兩天又有客戶想要我們Linux support, what a free rider!
言歸正傳, 今次的主題是945GM(CRT, LVDS) + AIT 9250 PCI(CRT, DVI), 在xorg 下要輸出Quad Displays (謎之音, 為何不用4, 要用quad!? 客倌不覺得這樣比較炫嗎?)

首先, 要先檢查是不是所有的vga 都有認到, 抄傢伙 "lspci"

[Linux] Suspend/Resume over LAN & USB

前幾天有個客戶需要Suspend to RAM (S3) 和 Resume over LAN & USB 的功能, 就小玩了一下!
Platform: 945G + Celeron D 352, 2GB RAM, GigaLAN
OS: Fedora Core 4 (2.6.11-1) & 2.6.21.1

Step1. BIOS:
-- 在BIOS 中要把wakeup 的device 都打開, 這個LAN 是PCIE的, 所以也要特別設一下.
-- 將Suspend Mode 設為 [S3] Suspend to RAM

Step2. Linux:
-- /proc/acpi/wakeup 中, 把USB 和 PCIE 都設為wakeup trigger sources

Step3. 準備來睡 (枕頭咧?)
-- 我將 suspend 和 resume 的過程寫成一個script

rmmod ehci-hcd
rmmod uhci-hcd

/sbin/hwclock --adjust

#save video state

因為FC4 的kernel 無法由USB wakeup, 所以直上最新release (2.6.21.1)的kernel.

[Linux] U-Boot @ PXA27x 快速功略

好一陣子沒有動力試新的東東, 最近心血來潮 , 想說來試試這個有名的bootloader, 今天的主角就是這個U-Boot
簡易功略如下:
1. 下載一份U-Boot source code.
2. 參考人家的patch for Mainstone.
-- 目前已知ADS的PXA270 demo kit 有patch. 要先去這裏看一下說明及限制
3. 要改的flies:

-- u-boot/
  -- board/
      -- batman.c: 我們公司的板子--> 蝙蝠俠
      -- config.mk
      -- lowlevel_init.S: 跟名稱一樣, 要改的東西有 GPIO/Clocks/SDRAM/IRQ/OSTIMER的 init
       -- Makefile
      -- pxavoltage.S: PMIC 的init 和 function
       -- u-boot.lds
  -- include/
       -- configs/
            -- batman.h: 定義board level的一些初始值
  -- Makefile : 加入你的板子support

4. 使用cross compiler 來build
5. 使用JTAG cable 下載到你的板子.
6. 開機, 搞定收工.
-- 當然沒那麼順利, 由於沒有ICE, 所以土法鍊鋼使用LED 當作debug tool, 還發生bl 跳不回去的error, debug 了一個下午, 看到開機畫面, 特此留po 紀念

使用 Subversion 進行版本控管

從前都沒有導入協同開發及版本控管, 所有的code都是一改再改, 有時改爛了,
只好從很久以前的存檔再來一次, 既沒效率而且帥度也下降.
所以今年在年終之前, 給自己一個新的短程目標, 導入Subversion 來進行軟體
的控管, 以及使用Mantis來進行Bug Tracking.
1. Subversion:
FC1中, 從原先的1.1.4升級至1.2.1
相關的mod_dav_svn 也一拼升級
配合Apache進行最精簡的WebDAV.
要改的檔案包含：

 -- /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
 -- /etc/httpd/conf.d/subversion.conf
 -- svnadmin create /path/to/repository
 -- 要有xml及css效果:
    -- svnindex.xsl
    -- svnindex.css

2. Mantis:
最初的想法是引進一套Bug Tracking System, 持續追綜未結案的BUG.
進而演化成Issue Management System, 而最終目標是建立KM (Knowledge Management).

[Linux] 更換Linux Boot up Logo

在2.4 kernel 需要浩大工程才能完成的 Logo更換, 沒想到在2.6 中是
a piece of cake....
如何換咧?

別吵!! 準備好飲料爆米花, silence your mobile phone, 我們正式開始.

1. 到http://kernel.org下載2.6 kernel, 目前已經到2.6.11.4了!

2. 準備好美美的圖片, 使用png 格式, 顏色要少於224, 此例是使用1024x80.
使用pngtopnm及pnmtoplainpnm這兩個tool來轉換
pngtopnm my_logo.png | pnmtoplainpnm > logo_linux_clut224.ppm
cp logo_linux_clut224.ppm /your_kernel_source/drivers/video/logo/

3. Untar kernel source code後, 執行 make menuconfig
Graphics Support ->
[*] Support for frame buffer devices
[*] VESA VGA graphics support

Console display driver support ->
[*] Video mode selection support

<*> Framebuffer Console support

[*]Select compiled-in fonts
[*]VGA 8x16 font

Logo configuration->
[*]Bootup logo
[*] Standard 224-color Linux logo

4. 接下來就是compile kernel囉, 這都不會就收工了 =.=|||
make bzImage

5. 選好心儀的bootloader, 在append 參數中, 加上 'vga=0x318' 會設定
開機時使用1024x768 24bit的模式.

6. 開機試試囉... Enjoy yourself ^_^
